Star Wars Ships: A-Wing Starfighter

The A-wing made it's first appearance in Episode VI in the legacy of the Star Wars chronicles. Suggesting nothing but raw speed due to it's sleek design and enormous twin engines, this fighter has the strange resemblence to an arrowhead or something of a similar shape. With the ability to perform lightening strikes with it's pivoting laser cannons from each side on the wings, this fighter is faster than the TIE's.

Twin engines push this tiny star wars ships through time and space with it's exceptional performance and ability to hit sublight speeds. It's rumored that only the best of the best could operate the the A-wing due to it's tremendous velocity and powerful weapons systems.

Speaking of the weapons systems, some A-wing star wars ships, well all of them in fact had some dual linked laser cannons on each side of the aircraft. Odds are though that some of them could go up and down with some that could rotate all the way around that could shoot behind them at the foes that were trying to track them down. And don't forget about those concussion missiles tucked away in some recesses along the forward track of the A-wing star wars ship for whatever's needed to blow that enemy aircraft out of the sky.

And just like the modern day stealth fighters, these A-wings can fly under the radar undetected with their powerful sensor jammers they used on enemy radar, well, the small ones at least. When they used them to try and get by the larger star wars capital ships sensors, they actually showed up like big juicy burgers on their radar and simply gives them away.

Unknown fact about the A-wing
The A-wings first designs included some blue markings which wouldn't work later in the production of the movie due to the use of bluescreens. This prompted the makers to change the A-wings blue markings to more of the redish color you see now.
